Work by Ryan Molloy chosen for Hong Kong ISCM-Musicarama festival

We are delighted to announce that Ryan Molloy's work Gealach Chríoch Lachlan has been selected from the Irish entries for presentation at this upcoming festival. While not one of the main annual Music Days event, this is an international new music mini-festival associated with the International Society for Contemporary Music. The piece will be performed by Ensemble Kochi at the Hong Kong City Hall on 3 June.

From Ryan:
"I am absolutely delighted to have my string quartet Gealach Chríoch Lochlann accepted for performance by Ensemble Kochi in Hong Kong in June. It is a privilege to feature in this exciting Festival and to have my work presented on such an international stage. I am especially happy that they have chosen this quartet for performance. For me, Gealach Chríoch Lochlann was an experiment in colliding two huge creative forces for me: that of my kind of contemporary musical language and traditional Irish music. In previous efforts this has been somewhat more hidden as I tried to avoid the weighty stereotypes of traditional rhythms, etc. The overt assimilation of this into this quartet has, I feel, come closer to the kind of music I want to write, hopefully forming part of the reason for my selection for the ISCM Musicarama in Hong Kong."
