Patrick Brennan selected for ISCM World Music Days 2015

The jury of the ISCM 2015 World Music Days Festival have announced their selected works for the festival this year. The Irish work to be performed at the festival will be Patrick Brennan's Ballabile

I’m delighted that my piece, Ballabile, has been selected for performance at the ISCM World Music Days. This work, written for the LSO and premièred in February 2015, takes its title from dance terminology; the word "ballabile" describes a passage in which the whole corps de ballet dances together. This image is somewhat analogous to my musical intentions for the work, which celebrates the sound of a full symphony orchestra and the instrumental families within it. I’d also like to add that I’m extremely pleased and proud to have been chosen as a representative of Ireland in this rather illustrious festival of contemporary music- I look forward to a fun few days in Slovenia.  –Patrick Brennan

World Music Days is an annual festival of contemporary music, organised by the International Society of Contemporary Music since 1923. Every year the festival is held in a different location, and the festival features at least one specially selected work from each member organisation. 2015's festival will take place in Ljubljana, Slovenia at the end of September.
